If the Applicant Is Under 18

To avoid delays, submit the following documents when the applicant is under 18:

  • Evidence that every person with legal authority to decide where the child lives consents to the travel (e.g., a statutory declaration).
  • Certified copy of the child’s birth certificate.
  • Form 1229 — consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under 18 (attach certified ID of parent(s)/guardian with photo and signature).
  • If the child will stay with someone other than a parent/guardian/relative: a signed declaration from the person responsible in Australia (Form 1257 — undertaking declaration).
  • Evidence of enrolment at school, college, or university (if applicable).

Original Documents

Original Nepalese documents are not required for submission if they are certified by a Notary Public. Documents originating from Australia may be submitted as scanned copies. Do not send original documents unless specifically requested by Immigration, the High Commission, or the Embassy.

If Documents Are Not in English

Any document not in English must be accompanied by a full, certified translation. Each translated document should include:

  • Confirmation from the translator that the translation is accurate.
  • Date of the translation.
  • Translator’s full name, signature, and contact details.

Receiving Assistance (Agent or Representative)

  • If an agent provides advice or lodges the application for you: submit Form 956 (Advice by a migration agent/exempt person). The agent completes the form and the applicant must sign it.
  • If you want someone else to receive correspondence on your behalf: submit Form 956a (Appointment or withdrawal of an authorised recipient). The agent completes the form and the applicant must sign it.

Visa Charges & Payment

Pay the applicable visa application charge at the time of application:

  • If applying online: fees must be paid online during submission.
  • If applying through an Australia Visa Application Centre (AVAC): pay the visa fee via Demand Draft and any AVAC service fees by Manager’s Cheque as instructed by the centre.

Note: This checklist is a guide to common requirements for the Sponsored Family Stream under subclass 600. Requirements may vary by case and by country — always confirm current requirements with the Australian Department of Home Affairs or an authorised migration advisor before applying.
