Eligibility Overview
Applicants under 18 are generally considered dependents, while those over 18 may qualify as adult dependents under certain conditions. Each application is assessed individually.
Visa Application Checklist
Documents from the Sponsor (Ex-British Gurkha)
- Copy of sponsor’s passport and visa with all arrival/departure stamps.
- Sponsor’s residence permit card.
- Certificate of service ("lal book").
- Family record or kindred roll.
- Letter from employer or proof of pension/benefits.
- Original pay slips for last 6 months and P60 forms.
- Original bank statements (3–6 months).
- Utility bills and council tax bills (last 3 months).
- Original sponsorship undertaking form and signed statement.
- Spouse’s marriage certificate (if applicable), translated and notarized.
- Death certificate of spouse’s ex-spouse (if sponsor is a widow), translated and notarized.
- Immigration housing report, tenancy agreement, or property title deed & mortgage statement.
- Money transfer receipts (e.g., IME, Western Union).
- Proof of communication with applicant.
Documents from the Applicant (Child)
- Original passport + 2 photocopies.
- Application fee payment receipt.
- TB screening certificate from IOM, Kathmandu.
- Completed online application form.
- Verification of relationship certificate, translated and notarized.
- Original birth certificate, translated and notarized.
- Unmarried & unemployed certificate, translated and notarized.
- Educational documents (SLC, 10+2, degree certificates) and college attendance letter.
- Character reference report (if applicable).
- Family photographs.
Additional Notes
Applicants over 18 may qualify as adult dependents if they are unmarried, financially dependent on the sponsor, and have lived with the sponsor for a significant period.
Application Process
Submit applications at the Visa Application Centre in Kathmandu. The process includes biometric data collection and submission of all required documents. Assistance is available through the Gurkha Settlement Office (GSO).
